On Monday, Conor McGregor announced that he would be retiring from mixed martial arts at the age of 30. This announcement came mere hours after it was revealed that McGregor was negotiating his return to The Octagon for July 7th.

McGregor took to Twitter to announce his shock retirement, sharing “Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!.”

Now, The New York Times has shared a report, detailing that McGregor is under investigation in Ireland over a sexual assault allegation made against him by an unnamed woman in December 2018.

The report published on the Times outlines an incident that took place at the Beacon Hotel. Located in a business park outside of Dublin, 25 minutes out from Crumlin, McGregor’s hometown. Footage has been obtained by the police from the room McGregor reportedly stayed.

McGregor was reportedly arrested in January where he was questioned by law enforcement and released pending further investigation.

The police investigating the attack retrieved evidence from the room McGregor stayed in and also secured closed-circuit camera footage, according to a person with knowledge of the investigation.

“Investigations are ongoing in this case, and at this time a file continues to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions,” a police statement read.

McGregor and the UFC are yet to comment on the allegations.
