Move over blue and gold dress, there’s a new optical illusion in town that’s dividing the internet, and it’s far more unsettling than any of its predecessors.
The photo, which has been dubbed “creepy clown dog”, was apparently first shared on Reddit, which quickly lead to users hotly debating as to what exactly they saw – was it simply a snap of a brown labrador, or was it a creepy clown boy?
Yep, you read that correctly.
“I can alternate between dog and clown,” one Redditor said after viewing the cursed image. “Took a minute to see the clown,” another commented.
The image has since made its way to Twitter, which had even more social media users battling each other over whether the image was a brown dog, or a devilish clown child – or both.
Do you see a dog or a clown? I saw a dog at first then the clown came into view and now I can’t see the dog anymore. 😂 pic.twitter.com/JtA7mZYrFF

“I can see both. Creepy clown boy then the dog. What do y’all see?” @JennyJohnsonHi5 tweeted, as one user replied: “I can see both. It’s effing creeeeeeeepy! (If you cover the dog’s eyes with your finger you can see the face again).”
Another Twitter user commented: “I see the creepy boy! It’s like he ate a ton of Oreos and it’s all over his mouth. Ppl: tilt your phone a bit, could help. The boy is kinda looking down. The dog’s nose is the boy’s eyes.”
Soon enough, people were dusting off their MS Paint skills in order to map out to others how you could visualise both the dog and the creepy clown in the bizarre optical illusion.

Despite whether the illusion has you seeing a dopey-looking good boi or the mime-like spawn of Satan, there’s one thing we can all agree on – the photo is pretty damn creepy (when you manage to see the clown, at least).
So, dear reader, what is it that you see?
