After going ahead with no live audience in 2020 due to COVID-19, the iconic Carols by Candlelight will welcome back people this year.

The traditional Christmas Eve event will have spectators back at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl. And there’ll be a lot of them too, with around 10,000 to be allowed to attend, almost full capacity.

Carols by Candlelight will operate under the COVID Safe and Wellbeing Plan, meaning only fully vaccinated people will be able to attend. In a year when Melbourne spent so much time in lockdown, it’s a nice way to end 2021.

Vision Australia have partnered with AAMI to bring the 84th Carols by Candlelight to life. Ron Hooton, Vision Australia CEO, shared his happiness at spectators returning to Carols by Candlelight. “We are truly thrilled to welcome back the thousands of people who make the annual trip to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Christmas Eve,” he said.

“Coming together as a family is what this event is all about, which is why we’re delighted AAMI will be by our side as the official presenting partner this year.

Vision Australia has provided over 150 years of support services, aids and equipment to help people who are blind or have low vision to live the life they choose and it’s because of these shared values that partnerships like this one will go a long way towards helping the over 2,300 families whose children rely upon our services each year.”

Tickets to Carols by Candlelight will go on sale on Wednesday, November 17th, at 2pm AEST. For further information about the event, head to carols.visionaustralia.org.
