In a huge move from Sony, Cyberpunk 2077 has been removed from the PlayStation Store until further notice due to the game’s current state.

It’s been well documented that while Cyberpunk 2077 is a stunning game on many levels, it has a few technical issues (and funny glitches) when played on consoles.

But following complaints from disgruntled console owners, Sony has taken the almost unprecedented step (at least in modern day gaming) of pulling the game from the PlayStation Store and will be issuing refunds.

In a statement issued out by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company states that “SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store.

“SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.

“Once we have confirmed that you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund.  Please note that completion of the refund may vary based on your payment method and financial institution.”

Following the game’s launch, Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt RED have issued out an apology for what’s transpired and gave an outline on what will be done in the upcoming months to fix all the outstanding problems.

There will be a “large” patch coming in January followed by a second major patch in February, both of which “should fix the most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-gen consoles.”

CD Projekt RED state that while these fixes won’t make Cyberpunk 2077 “look like it’s running on a high-spec PC or next-gen console,” these updates should make everything “closer to that experience than it is now.”

Finally, CD Projekt RED state that it will “update frequently whenever new improvements are ready” and will be informing players about the contents of each patch and fix ahead of their release.
