The reviews embargo for Cyberpunk 2077, i.e the most anticipated game of 2020, has lifted, and there’s a lot of discussion to say the least.

After several delays and a steady drip feed of features from the game over the last few months, we’re only a couple of days away from the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

And now that the official reviews embargo has lifted, we have a quantifiable score for 2020’s most hyped game is in and the verdict is… Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty damn good actually (and unsurprisingly).

If we go off the aggregated score on Metacritic (which isn’t strictly an accurate reflection of a game’s quality but that’s a discussion for another time), Cyberpunk 2077 sits at a more-than-respectable 91 score at the time of publishing.

Going through the published reviews, the general consensus is that Cyberpunk 2077 is a stunning open-world RPG in which its setting, narrative, and characters are some of the strongest the studio CD Projekt RED has ever done. That’s some high praise for the studio that made The Witcher 3.

Having said that though, a common refrain is that the game is still riddled with bugs and technical issues, which isn’t too surprising given the scale and ambition of the game.

Eurogamer is pretty damn positive about it all: “Beyond the bombast and the bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 has a very human heart.” On the other hand, Giant Bomb holds no punches back at all, stating, “They should have delayed this game even more. One word: undercooked.”

All in all though, it seems like Cyberpunk 2077 does indeed live up to the hyper, even if it still has more bugs than the Amazon Rainforest.

But we must point out one thing, the technical issues present in Cyberpunk 2077 will be ironed out over time and the experience will be even better. After all, The Witcher 3 was in the exact same position when it was launched and CD Projekt RED patched that into a shiny masterpiece so we can probably expect the same for Cyberpunk 2077.

As for when The Brag will do our own impressions and write ups about Cyberpunk 2077, that’ll come in the next few weeks and into 2021 as the game continues to get patched and I slowly make my way through the glorious dystopian metropolis that is Night City. Stay tuned.
