Netflix animated children’s series Beat Bugs is getting the musical treatment. Beat Bugs Live! Will hit the stage in 2020. The live musical is based on Josh Wakely’s critically-lauded Netflix animated series.

Beat Bugs Live! will follow the story of five darling bugs —Jay, Crick, Kumi, Walter and Buzz— as they learn valuable life lessons to the sounds of The Beatles. The show will weave some of the seminal bands most beloved hits into its production. Expect to hear songs like ‘Come Together’, ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Here Comes the Sun’, and ‘Blackbird’.

“We’ve seen the magical world of Beat Bugs come to life on screen the last three years, and now it’s time to bring our stories to life onstage,” shared Josh Wakely. “Our live musical will affirm the simple, yet profound life lessons that are at the heart of these iconic songs. Round Room’s reverence for the stories and the music within its productions is perfectly in sync with our own, and they’re an ideal partner to bring ‘Beat Bugs’ to the stage.”

Beat Bugs Live! is set to hit over 80 U.S. and Canadian markets in 2020.  There has been no word yet as to whether it plans to hit Australia.

Beat Bugs premiered on Netflix in 2016. The show has recruited a roster of popular musicians to cover The Beatles’ hits. So far the series has featured covers from Sia, Rod Stewart, James Cordern, P!nk and Eddie Vedder. Check out a trailer below.
