Daredevil star Charlie Cox has confirmed that viewers haven’t seen the last of Matt Murdock, saying that he’ll be back for a future Marvel production.

While Cox didn’t elaborate on exactly what his character will be appearing in, he did say that something is in the works.

“I know something,” he told Radio Times. “I don’t know much, but I know there will be something else.”

Cox played Matt Murdoch in the popular Netflix series Daredevil which ran from 2015 to 2018 and was produced by Marvel. More recently, he played the superhero character in the 2021 blockbuster, Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, the latter role was very small with Cox appearing in just one scene in which he offered legal advice to Peter Parker.

“I got a phone call saying, ‘Do you want to come back? Do you want to be in Spider-Man?’ and I was like, ‘Obviously, yeah! That would be amazing. I’m thrilled. I’d love to do that.’ They said ‘Great, we’ll be in touch.’ and then I didn’t hear anything for, like, two months! I did get to the point where I was like, ‘Did I dream this?’ – I definitely got to the point where I was, like, ‘I don’t know what’s gonna happen.’ But then I got a follow-up phone call.”

Cox’s cameo in the movie wasn’t revealed in any promotional material, so it came as a surprise to most viewers. Reflecting on the scene, the actor said he went to a movie theatre so that he could enjoy the crowd’s reaction when his character popped up on the screen.

“It’s funny, I got so many text messages and so many calls about that moment in the cinema. My nephew sent me a recording of everyone cheering,” he explained.

“So I snuck into a movie theatre near where I live and literally stood in the corridor… and, sadly, my experience was it was dead fucking quiet! I was so disappointed – my wife was with me and she was recording me, because it’d be fun to have that moment of everyone cheering, and then… tumbleweed!,” he laughed.
