Deborra-Lee Furness has addressed long-running rumours that her husband, Hugh Jackman is gay, calling them “so silly”.
Despite being married to Furness for over 26 years, Jackman was plagued by rumours that he was a homosexual after starring as gay performer Peter Allen in a Broadway production of The Boy from Oz.
During an appearance on Not an Overnight Success podcast, Furness has dismissed the whispers, lightheartedly saying: “I mean, hello guys – if he was gay, he could be gay!”
Referencing Jackman’s ripped physical and classical good looks, Furness pointed out that her husband could have the pick of the litter if his sexual preferences swung towards men.
“He didn’t have to hide in the closet anymore, and he’d be dating Brad Pitt, or whatever. Not that Brad’s gay, but you know what I’m saying!”
She added, “It’s so silly, and then people perpetuate silly things and it’s boring”.
During the same interview, Furness – who is also an actor – was asked how it felt watching her husband act out love scenes in movies, and vice versa.

“It’s so weird – I suppose because I’ve done it so many times before, it’s not really romantic,’ she said of herself. ‘You’ve got the light in your face, you’ve got to hit a mark and so it’s not really sexy,” Furness said of acting out her own scenes.
However, she did reveal that it can be awkward watching her husband’s intimated scenes. “When I’m sitting in the theatre watching – especially if I’m with the kids – I feel a little uncomfortable.
“But also, a lot of the times I’m very good friends with the actress he’s making out with as we’re making a film, we all get to know each other. Sometimes it’s weird seeing it, and I think the kids are like, “Ahh!” [Oscar, their son] doesn’t want to watch.’
‘[But] when you’re in a relationship, that’s just all fluff, you know? It’s all fluff.”
