Lockdown is bleak, but it doesn’t have to be. There are a bunch of Potts Point restaurants and bars offering elevated takeaway meals and cocktails.

Bistro 916

The height of decadence; Dan Pepperell’s Bistro 916 will have you blowing the dust off the candelabras. Bistro 916 is offering four flat-out luxurious takeaway options: a duck dinner for two, caviar service, crab service, and their apotheosis — the “Plateau Panaché.”

The Plateau Panaché, dubbed a “feast of the sea”, will set you back $300. Baguette & butter, 12 Sydney rock oysters dressed in mignonette, jalapeño hot sauce and ginger gelée, tiger prawns, tuna tartare, uni, abalone, hash browns, and the crown jewel — 1 kg of Eastern rock lobster, au natural.

Dear Saint Eloise

Oh god what I would give to sink a sumptuous Sangiovese and stare out Dear Saint Eloise’s sun-dappled windows, pretending I’m the main character of my own fabulous movie. Dear Saint Eloise have curated a special date night menu that’ll set you back a very reasonable $65.

The menu changes each week, this week featured sourdough, butter bean dip, braised chickpeas, lab shank tajine, casarecce, braised greens with the option of an additional charcuterie board for the savoury fiends or a leche flan yuzu caramel for those with a sweet tooth.

Polish it all down with a generous glug of one of their gorgeous wines.

The Apollo

The iconic Greek taverna has fashioned a collection of curated dinners that will have you swooning with happiness. The Full Greek for Two has all their hits; marinated olives, taramasalata mullet roe dip, pita bread, that oozy, glorious saganaki cheese, village salad, oven-baked lamb shoulder, roast chat potatoes and a rice pudding for dessert. There are cocktails too! Order now through Providoor.

Macleay St Bistro

You know that scene from Ratatouille where Anton Ego is taken back to his childhood in a dazzling, blissful haze after shovelling that gifted rat chef’s masterpiece into his gob. That’s exactly the cerebral reaction I get when I indulge in Macleay St Bistro’s beef bourginoun. Macleay St Bistro has it’s usual fair available for takeaway — crack open a bottle of something special, throw on a Louis Malles flick, live the life of opulence you deserve.

Bistro Rex

Bistro Rex have curated a few fantastic take-home meal options. Rex at Home offers a steak package, a burger package and a pie package, in addition to their stellar take-away options.

Something to drink about….

Tommy’s Margarita’s

Nothing dulls the painful pangs of boredom quite like a spicy margarita, and Tommy’s do em’ well. From Wednesday through to Sunday Tommy’s run a margarita delivery service. There are 7 iterations of the margarita to choose from: classic, Tommy’s, Gusano Fresco, Kiwi Y Pera, Coco Y Pepino, De Pomelo and Mora. The cocktail bottles serve 6 — a perfect three servings for you and whoever you’ve chosen to share your friend bubble with, alternately, perfectly fuel for one lonesome lady DYING to shoot off the hip, regrettable DMs to boys on Instagram.

Order before 5 pm for same-day delivery.

The Roosevelt

The Roosevelt is the perfect joint to order from if you’re that kind of person that wants to try everything on the menu. There’s a smorgasbord of inventive, ambitious cocktails and hearty grub to match.
