Love them or loathe them, remakes, revivals and reboots are all the rage lately, with everyone from King of the Hill to Beavis and Butthead jumping on the revival train.

It sounds like Disney+ may yet cash in with a sequel to 1992’s Encino Man, according to one of the original cast members.

Discussing the film in an oral history with Inverse, Pauly Shore added that he might be down for a remake if co-stars Brendan Fraser and Sean Astin were on board.

“I know Disney+ is talking about possibly doing the sequel,” Shore said. “If they want me to do it and the script was right and Brendan and Sean were on board and it made sense, I would do it for the fans! It’s what George [Zaloom, the writer of Encino Man] has been working on. So ask him about it.”

Zaloom neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.

“If you ask me ‘Is there going to be another Encino Man?’ — I don’t know!,” he said, “I’m not going to say yes. I’m not going to say no. We may be pleasantly surprised.”

Shore starred as Stanley “Stoney” Brown in the film, a high school student who, along with best friend Dave Morgan (Astin), befriends a recently-unearthed caveman (Fraser).

The movie didn’t do great when it was first released, but has since gained notoriety and almost cult-like status.

So too has the star behind the film’s titular character, Brendan Fraser, with viral TikToks routinely gathering millions of views in what is known as the “brenaissance.”

Of course, it isn’t the first time Shore has hinted at an Encino Man 2.

On the original film’s 29th anniversary last year, Shore shared a post to Instagram.

“Here’s a personal pic with myself and Brendan Fraser on the set,” Shore captioned the throwback photo. “Peace Brendan, miss you. Hope you’re doing great in this crazy world. And you guys know what Brendan’s peace sign means right? Encino Man 2 doooooooddzzzz.”

He also encouraged fans to contact the streaming service about creating a sequel.

“Hit up Disney+ and tell them myself, Brendan, and Sean are ready for the sequel,” he wrote.
