No need to worry about missing out on valuable visual jokes while watching The Simpsons on Disney+ as they have promised to fix their aspect ration in May.

Back in November, Disney+ released a massive collection of movies and shows to watch, including The Simpsons. Unfortunately, it had been cropped to fit into their 16:9 format for widescreen, resulting in many viewers complaining that everyone was missing out on important gags throughout the show.

As Disney+ shows all of its programs in a widescreen formation, following the 16:9 aspect ratio, a portion of the shows footage was lost to the cropping of the screen, resulting in many viewers lashing out against the streaming platform.

Although the newest season of The Simpsons was made in the 16:9 format, the former 19 seasons were made to fit televisions using the 4:3 format. When Disney+ first decided to feature the classic animated sitcom on their site, they chose to show the entire series in the newer format in the name of visual clarity and quality.

Unfortunately, while keeping the picture high quality, and guaranteeing consistency in the definition across the seasons, the platform failed to recognise the amount of visual cues and jokes that were originally included.

Luckily, Disney+ has realised the errors of the show, and has announced that they plan to fix it next month. “We appreciate our fans’ patience and are working to make the first 19 Seasons (and part of 20) of The Simpsons available in 4:3 versions on Disney Plus,” the streaming service posted to Twitter. “We expect to accomplish this by the end of May.”

Even though we will have to wait for another month for the aspect ratio to be corrected, Disney+ still offers countless shows and movies to keep you entertained and distracted during this era of social distancing in the name of COVID-19.
