Living with one foot in sea and one on shore, photographer Ronnie Heng invites Sydneysiders to an exhibition of his underwater world.

Heng grew up opposite a ferry terminal in Georgetown, Penang, where he developed a love for water. After moving to Australia in 2000,he’s become a regular ocean swimmer, competing annually in the Sydney swims, including the Cole Classic (Manly) and The Big Swim (Whale Beach to Palm Beach). Most recently, he visited Fiji to swim with (and snap photos of) sharks.

This passion for underwater photography has led to his first solo exhibition, boasting his currentcollection of predominantly black and white images, all takenin West Papua and West Sumatra. Through the scale and quality of his prints, Heng hopes to convey the unbelievable intensity of life he experiences underwater.

Heng’s free exhibition,Dive Into My World, will be running from Saturday June 27 to Friday July 10 atBlank Space Gallery.
