If you’re still reeling over the shock news that Australia’s own money isn’t vegan, and if you’re still jealous of those lucky Finns who get to indulge in a McVegan burger, then it looks like you might finally have some good news on the horizon, as Domino’s get ready to introduce vegan cheese to their pizza.

Taking to their Facebook recently, Domino’s Australia made a post in which they asked for feedback in regards to the idea of introducing vegan cheese to their menu. Upon clicking their link, you’re given the option to submit your email address to register your interest, and to be notified “if we do introduce it to our menu.”

Admittedly, while Domino’s haven’t yet made an official statement indicating that they’re planning to introduce vegan cheese to their range, it seems like a sure thing at this point. Considering a that Finland introduced a vegan burger at McDonald’s despite only 2% of their population naming themselves as vegetarian, and 0.5% as vegan, it seems rather rather likely that Australia’s 11% population of vegetarians and vegans might be in for some good news soon.

If we also factor in the 7,300 (mainly positive) reactions on the Facebook post, the 1,446 shares, and the comments which number over 5,000, it looks as though Domino’s’ arm might be getting twisted just enough enough to introduce the cruelty-free foodstuff into their range.

Notably though, Domino’s UK recently responded to a Twitter user asking whether their pizzas will become vegan friendly. The company replied in the negative, stating that the base that their products use contains a “milk derived ingredient”. While we can’t speak for the ingredients in an Aussie Domino’s pizza, we can only assume that our friendly pizza makers might have a different formula in use than our Northern Hemisphere friends, making our dreams much more reachable.

Of course, if we are left disappointed by the fast food chain, then don’t forget, there’s always plenty of brilliant vegan options available in Sydney, including Manoosh Pizzeria, as the boys from Lime Cordiale explained to us.

While we wait for an official announcement from Domino’s, our hopes are pretty high, so we’ll definitely keep you updated as more news comes to light on this front.
