This bushfire season has been devastating, and we are now on the rounds to help out however we can. The newest way? Donating empty drink bottles and their deposits.
Between December, January, and February Australia experienced some of the most severe bushfires in history. Now, after Australia has been through so much devastation, many people are banding together to raise funds to benefit the affected areas, people, and animals.
From fundraising concerts to charity-driven film debuts, the newest charitable effort has popped up through Cans for Koalas.
As many of our states and territories have adopted a deposit scheme for bottles and cans, Cans for Koalas aims to put those deposits to good use, and help out bushfire affected animals.
By collecting your deposit bottles and returning them at any TOMRA Recycling Machine or any Return and Earn, you can begin to raise money for the injured animals.
As each bottle and can has up to a 10 cent deposit, recycling has never been more beneficial. Not only will the containers be kept out of landfills and destined for multiple purposes, but their deposit will help out animals who were burned in the fires.
With an estimated 1.25 billion animals being affected this bushfire season, even the smallest bit of change from the deposit bottles can make a difference.
