Beloved garage punks Dune Rats have teamed up with quintessential Aussie brand Volley to release an epic new collection this summer.
Ahead of the band’s highly-anticipated third album Real Rare Whale, set for release in June, the new range offers everything a fan could possibly need at upcoming gigs – two original shoe designs, socks, a backpack and a hat, all doused in the iconic Dunies quirk.
The band have fond memories of wearing Volley shoes while growing up. “The first time I can remember Volley’s, my dad’s toe was sticking through the end of his favourite pair ‘cos he’d worn them too much. So we had to take a trip to the shops to get a new pair,” says Dune Rats singer Danny Beus.
“I continued to wear them throughout the years, as I’m sure most people have, and if you ask anyone who’s been on a roof ya have less chance of falling on ya ass if ya wearing a pair of Volley’s.”
The first of many collections to come, this collaboration marks the launch of an ongoing partnership between Volley and Dune Rats. “It was stacks of fun working with Dunies to design the collection,” says Volley.
“They were heavily involved in the creative process of developing this collection, workshopping ideas and concepts, and making sure we got all the details correct. We talked extensively throughout the product design and development process and we’re all really thrilled with the end result, one which truly was a team effort.”
From Friday, March 4th onwards, you can find the range exclusively at the official Volley website and in General Pants and City Beach stores around Australia.

And in light of the devastating floods in the Dunies’ hometown of Brisbane and beyond, $5 for every shoe sold through the collaboration via volley.com will go to the Red Cross Flood Appeal.
Dune Rats have a slew of gigs coming up in the next few months. On Sunday, April 10th, they’ll headline the all-ages Live at the Bowl show at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Before that, they’ll be performing at This That festival in Sandstone Point and Newcastle (find full tour dates at dunerats.tv).
