The Twitter-sphere has been running wild these past few weeks and it may have finally peaked with Elon Musk hinting at a rival of Vine

Recently, the social media giant has been hit with takeovers, departures, re-appearances, fake re-appearances, Kanye West and a whole lot of bad language.

A lot of this, but not all, is due to Elon Musk’s transition into his new role as “Chief Twit,” after purchasing the company for a measly $44 billion. Included in that fold is the long-lost Vine, which was bought out by the company early in its development.

Vine allowed you to create short seven second videos. It can easily be argued that it was the origin story of reels and sparked a whole generation of social media celebrities.

However, as time went on, it went and joined MySpace and Google+ on the pile of social media platforms we didn’t want anymore. Or ever.

After a near four year stint, Vine was discontinued in 2019. But when there is life, there is hope.

Musk recently posted to Twitter one of the most reassuring things I’ve read in recent years.

“Bring back Vine?”

Below the text was a poll that at the time of writing had nearly 900,000 votes. Naturally, 72.1% voted ‘yes’, while 27.9% voted ‘no.’

Now, I doubt that those 27.9% would dare to reveal themselves. But at least the majority are all united in this quest to bring back Vine.

And if there was ever a man to do it, it would probably be Elon Musk.
