Just days after warmly welcoming him back to Twitter, Elon Musk has felt the need to talk to Kanye West privately about his posts on the platform.
Musk took to Twitter several hours ago to reveal that he’d spoken with the rapper. “Talked to ye today & expressed my concerns about his recent tweet, which I think he took to heart,” he wrote in reply to his previous tweet which happily read, “welcome back to Twitter, my friend!”
That previous tweet came in response to Kanye’s post calling out Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for kicking him off Instagram.
As her prepares to finally take over Twitter, Kanye’s recent usage of the platform poses a problem for Musk, although he’s previously advocated for the restoration of Donald Trump’s Twitter account.
Just one day after Instagram restricted the rapper’s account, Kanye’s Twitter account was locked over the weekend after he posted antisemitic material.
His Twitter account was locked on Sunday, October 9th after the rapper tweeted claiming he was going “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE”, which was perceived to violate Twitter’s policies against hate speech.
“If it seems like an otherwise healthy account is in the middle of an abusive episode, we might temporarily make their account read-only, limiting their ability to Tweet, Retweet, or Like content until calmer heads prevail,” Twitter explains in its help center. “When an account is in read-only mode, others will still be able to see and engage with the account.”

“The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,” he wrote in another tweet over the weekend. The tweet was then removed and West’s account locked.
That came after Instagram had restricted Kanye’s account after he insinuated that his fellow rapper Diddy, real name Sean Combs, was being controlled by Jews.
Other notable tweets since his return to the platform included asking his followers, “Who do you think created cancel culture?” As for how long Kanye could potentially be locked out of Twitter, it could be anywhere from 12 hours to 7 days.
