During a recent Q and A, Emilia Clarke teased the possibility of her character, Daenerys Targaryen, returning to Game of Thrones.

After being stabbed through the stomach by Jon Snow, mere feet from the Iron Throne she had sought her entire life, Daenerys Targaryen’s body was clutched by her Dragon Drogon and flown off into the distance.

Many people had questions about where Drogon was going and what he planned to do with her body. It was later confirmed by Samwell Tarly that Drogon was seen flying East, to Volantis.

For those familiar with Game of Thrones lore, Volantis is a city in Essos that is frequented by Red Priestesses, who are known for returning the dead to life on occasion.

With that knowledge, many fans took it and ran with the theory that we could be seeing Daenerys’ return in the future. Now, Emilia Clarke has given us a bit of a tease that her return could be more than just a theory.

“We don’t know where her body is” It has long been confirmed that Drogon took Daenerys’ body to Volantis, where the Red Priestess come from and are known for resurrection. #HouseOfTheDragon

It sounds like the book could end quite differently from the show, according to one of George R.R. Martin’s latest entries in his Not A Blog blog, where he gave some big news to book fans who did not enjoy the ending of Game of Thrones. He talked about how he is a gardener-type writer and his story evolves and grows as he writes it.

“What I have noticed more and more of late, however, is my gardening is taking me further and further away from the television series.   Yes, some of the things you saw on HBO in GAME OF THRONES you will also see in THE WINDS OF WINTER (though maybe not in quite the same ways)… but much of the rest will be quite different.”
