Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen recently talked on the red carpet about their love for the prequels and specifically Episode 3.

Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen had high praise for the prequels when asked about them while promoting the upcoming Disney Plus series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi.’ They talked about how the target audience has grown up in the years that have passed since the prequel trilogy was released and their appreciation for the growing fondness among those fans.

Ewan and Hayden were especially kind towards Episode 3, which Hayden called a “phenomenal film.” Many fans in the comment sections were happy to see them on the trail for Star Wars again, being joined by Moses Ingram, who plays Inquisitor Reva.

“Ewan: “I like them. Episode 3 was a really good movie.”

Hayden: “It’s a phenomenal film!””

During an interview with Total Film, Ewan McGregor was asked the question of whether he would be interested to come back as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the future, beyond the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

“If we were to get an opportunity to do it again, I’d be totally up for that,” McGregor said, in response to the question of his willingness to return as the titular character.

“Here I go again,” he jokes. “It’s like me knocking at Disney’s door again!” This is of course in reference to the years of McGregor being both asked about and bringing forth himself, the topic of returning as Kenobi.

Ewan McGregor took some time to reflect on both the upcoming series and his previous time with the character during the interview and had some high praise for the series, “It was nice to come back and to bridge that gap between me and Alec Guinness. I got as much, or more, out of playing him this time than I did in the first three movies put together. That’s to do with the writing, and the people we were making the series with, and the technology, and how different everything is.”

McGregor also recently commented on how the series will tie certain bits of dialogue together between Episode III and Episode IV.

With the 20-year bridge between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope slowly being closed within the Star Wars universe, Obi-Wan Kenobi has a tough task to tackle— making dialogue from A New Hope make sense with Vader and Kenobi’s reunion.

“Send a scanning crew aboard. I want every part of this ship checked.” So far everything sounds like pretty standard Imperial protocol. But then Vader mysteriously adds, “I sense something. A presence I’ve not felt since…”

Vader said this in reference to Obi-Wan, who was aboard the Millenium Falcon at the time before they later met face to face.

“The circle is now complete,” Vader tells him when they meet up later in A New Hope. “When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master.”

When Christensen and McGregor had this brought to their attention by the interviewer, who asked if it would be addressed, the two answered the question in a sheepish manner.

“Maybe?” responded Christensen as a big smile took over his face.

“Maybe,” McGregor agreed, before expanding on how the new series changes things in all directions. “It’s fun. It’s very clever how all these threads are created. It’s like working backwards and forwards at the same time for the writers and for Deborah.”
