A Tweet about Jon Bernthal playing Aaron Hernandez in a Netflix series went viral but it was actually from a parody account.

Parody account @disbussingfilm recently released a joke tweet about Jon Bernthal depicting Aaron Hernandez in a Netflix series that picked up a surprising amount of traction for being fake. This is of course false, but that didn’t stop many from speculating about the possibility of said series.

With the success of Netflix’s most recent serial-killer-based limited series Dahmer, it’s not hard to believe why so many thought this was true

Dahmer, which debuted on September 21st, racked up over 196 million viewing hours in its first week of airing, followed up by 299.8 million viewing hours in its second week. This made it the third most-watched series in the time span of two weeks behind only Stranger Things Season 4 and Squid Game Season 1.

With Dahmer‘s massive success, it’s not hard to see why fans were so eager to see another real-life killer in a fictional series. However, they made have to wait a bit longer, as Jon Bernthal and Netflix currently have no plans to see the actor stepping into the cleats of Aaron Hernandez.

Despite Netflix’s lack of involvement, the series creator of Dahmer, Ryan Murphy, is developing a show that will focus on Hernandez’s story.

In late August, FX ordered a pair of spinoffs to accompany Murphy’s American Story franchise. This would expand into American Sports Story, which is described as an anthology series in which each episode would examine major events that surrounded various sports figures.

The first season of the series will have an episode covering the rise and fall of Hernandez and is described as exploring, “the connections of the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and their legacy in sports and American culture.”

“Following the success of ‘DAHMER’, Netflix is producing an Aaron Hernandez limited series with Jon Bernthal in the leading role. (Source: Netflix)”
