After almost 20 years and seemingly countless films, the Fast & Furious franchise is finally ending… soon enough.
As reported by Deadline, Universal Pictures plans to farewell the series with two final movies, which will serve as its tenth and eleventh films.
It is reportedly Justin Lin, director of five of the franchise‘s films, who will be taking the helm of both of the final installments.
According to Deadline, it is likely that the films will share one overarching storyline set over two parts, and that they will focus on protagonist Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesal.
Along with Diesel, Fast & Furious mainstays Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kan, Nathalie Emmanuel and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges are all set to return for the ending.
It is not yet known whether Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, original cast members who moved on to spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, will also be making one last appearance.
Although it is unclear when we can expect the films to be premiere, it seems safe to assume it won’t be for quite a while.

The creatively titled F9, the series’ ninth installment, was originally slated for release in May of this year.
However, as a result of the global pandemic, its premiere has been pushed back a year to May 2021.
Therefore, it appears we won’t be saying goodbye to the series for several more years, much to the relief of its fans.
While the OG series will eventually run its course, two new spin-off films are also currently in development, with no doubt more to follow.
In fairness, it is hardly a surprise that Universal is keen to draw things out, considering the series is the highest grossing in the studio’s history.
