Ah, festival season. It’s Christmas for those who grew up watching Fashion Police. A chance to play Joan Rivers and mercilessly pick apart festival fashion faux pas. We’ve tormented the teddy jacket, berated the baker cap and shucked small glasses. Now, 2019 has brought us another victim… The ‘festival shirt’.

In case you’re unfamiliar, let me acquaint you. The festival shirt is a gorgeously gaudy yellow and blue striped number from Australia’s favourite fast fashion institution, Cotton On. The $29 button up has proved itself to be a festival staple amongst Australian punters. We’re not quite sure why. Maybe it’s the humble 100% viscose material, the classic slim fit or the chest pocket perfectly sized to deftly cradle a boombox of Winnie Blues. Check it out in all its glory:

Now, it looks as though all the festival bros in Sydney will be congregating in Sydney’s Hyde Park for the inaugural ‘Festival Bros meet up at Hyde park wearing cotton on shirt’ event. The event begins today at 5 pm sharp and finishes at 10 pm. The description for the event simply reads:

Hi Fezy Bros,

Fuck everyone and lets all meet up at Hyde park wearing our favourite cotton on festival shirt.

See you there xx

Over 4,000 bros have expressed interest in attending, it’ll be a crime to miss it.
