COVID-19 lockdowns have seen small businesses of every variety do it tough, particularly the hospitality sector. And Fleischer Cakes want to send off this lockdown with a bang.

On the flipside, 5km lockdowns that we have seen here in Melbourne (and other states) have forced customers to shop, eat and drink with their local venues, something they may have not done as much (or at all) if it weren’t for the lockdown.

It’s also seen local shops be more neighbourly than ever.

As lockdown is set to lift for Victorians tomorrow, Melbourne institution Fleischer Cakes are celebrating by serving up free coffees all day tomorrow.

They shared the news via their Instagram account where they wrote, “To our loyal customers. As a BIG thankyou for all your support throughout the years and especially over these past months we would like to offer everyone a FREE takeaway coffee to boost moral and get you all down to Glenferrie Road Malvern to support the local family owned businesses.”

Based in Malvern, Fleischer Cakes are renowned for baking some of Melbourne’s finest continental cakes and pastries.

“There are so many incredible businesses that have done it tough and everyone needs all the support they can get,” they continued.

“So come down on Wednesday 28/7/21 between 8.30am-5pm and grab your free coffee and shop up a storm at some of our fellow businesses.”

And of course, they reminded everyone who comes down to be safe, to wear masks and to make sure that they check in via QR codes.

They said, “Remember to wear your mask, check in with the QR codes and bring a smile.”
