The fifth edition of Freda’s after pARTY features performance artists Caroline Garcia and Claudia Nicholson.
after pARTY is a monthly official-unoffical afterparty kicking on from the exhibition openings of galleries in the Chippendale area. Held on the first Wednesday of each month, after pARTY celebrates contemporary artists and their practices, featuring a different artist each month.
For the fifth edition Claudia Nicholson will be doing live blingee portraits of attendees, there will be screenings of Filipino and Latino soap operas, or you can kneel down to say your nightly prayers to Guadalupe AKA Mama Mary. If dancing is more your thing you can get down to the Otso Otso with Caroline Garcia and relive your Singstarglory days with some classic karaoke.
Caroline Garciais a culturally promiscuous performance maker. Working across live performance and video, Caroline creates a hybridised aesthetic of cross-cultural dance, ritual practice, new media and sampling of popular culture and colonial imagery.
