Following her disappearance last Wednesday, Glee star Naya Rivera has been pronounced dead following her body being recovered from Lake Piru in Southern California.
Last week, actress Naya Rivera and her four-year-old son rented a boat to take onto Lake Piru in Southern California. Following the rental becoming overdue, a search by fellow boaters found her child alone and asleep on the boat, with Rivera missing.
After interviewing her child, Captian Eric Buschow of the police noted that her son stated that they had gone swimming, and when he returned to the boat, his mother didn’t follow.
“He’s in good health,” Bushow said of Rivera’s son. “The family is going through a very traumatic time right now.”
Buschow later told NBC LA: “This is considered to be a horrible accident.”
Following days of extensive searching, the body of Rivera has been found, marking her death at the young age of 33.
This incident was confirmed by the Ventury County Sherriff’s Department to The Wrap, although no further comment has been made at this time.

Currently, the cause of her death is not immediately known, and there has not been a statement issued from her spokesperson.
Only yesterday, co-star Heather Morris asked to join the search noting, “I’m trying to conduct an on foot search and rescue mission along with a small group of friends at Lake Piru.
“I understand your team is doing EVERYTHING in their power, but we are feeling helpless, powerless and want to help in any way. I have left a message with the department of Rescue and Air today, and I will call again tomorrow. Thank you.”
Well known for her spot as cheerleader Santana on the musical-comedy Glee from 2009 until 2015, Rivera additionally starred in several guest rolls across popular television series like Baywatch, Family Matters, C.S.I. Miami, and more.
She leaves behind her four-year-old son Josey, her family and friends, and also hoards of fans who have been hoping for days that she would be found safe and sound.
