Although I’ve loved almost every element of isolation, I will admit that I miss feeling like a thotty. Thankfully, the government has announced that us lululemon-clad biddies will have access to our beloved gyms soon.
South Australia is the first state to set an official date for gyms and salons to reopen, with restrictions lifting from June 5th. The state government initially set an opening date for these businesses on June 8th, but after a six-day streak of no new cases, the government has brought the date forward. Pubs will also be opening three days earlier than anticipated on June 5th, meaning you lucky crow-eaters will be able to sink a few ice-cold ones over the June long weekend.
This follows Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s announcement of a three-step framework to reopening society. The framework details when certain industries will be allowed to reopen — but the decision to roll back restrictions will ultimately be up to each state and territory.
Step one of the national three-step frame work will not permit any indoor physical activity, including at gyms. It will allow groups of up to ten to participate in outdoor activity — some crafty gyms and boot camps have begun hosting sessions outside so jump on google if you have a proclivity for punishing your body with burpees in the mildew.
Stage two will allow up to 20 people to participate in indoor and outdoor fitness classes with the condition that those exercising must adhere to the four square metre rule.
Gyms won’t open on a national scale until stage three of the framework kicks in — with 100 people allowed in a venue at a time. The thought of a hundred people working out in one venue seems completely menacing to me.
So congrats SA you smug little bitch. In the meantime the rest of the country will subscribe to the good bible of Yoga With Adrienne.
