Believe it or not, Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore is making the quarter century mark this year, meaning its due to celebrate its 25th anniversary!

While it only seems like yesterday that the film was created, today it remains a cult classic for anyone who has a soft spot for Adam Sandler humour.

Now that the film’s 25th anniversary year is here, it’s time that we let the festivities roll.

First up to step up to the tee is cult sneaker and streetwear store, Extra Butter. Together with Adidas, they’re bringing us a Happy Gilmore inspired Ultra Boost 1.0. sneaker with all the trimmings to make it the perfect Happy Gilmore tribute. And unlike Shooter McGavin’s breakfast, its far from a piece of shit.

So, let’s dive into the shoe. First things first, we’ll point out the obvious. The shoe’s outer features gold coloured Primeknit, inspired by the coveted gold jacket Gilmore aspires to own one day. Remember he rocks up to the club points out the jackets and then asks Shooter McGavin where his jacket is. Classic.

It also features Shooter McGavin’s trademark gun taunt on the toe and a sole that’s reminiscent of a golf ball’s texture.

I also have to say, the printed tissue paper that hugs your shoes while inside the box is cool as and the homage level here is definitely a hole in one status.

And as if the pair of shoes wasn’t enough, Extra Butter are also bringing us a limited edition capsule of pieces, also inspired by the golf comedy. Here’s hoping Happy Gilmore himself (Adam Sandler) cops a pair. Let’s be honest, he’d totally rock them.

The shoe is yet to release, with its official date also yet to be announced, so make sure that you sign up to our Fashion & Beauty Observer to be the first in the know of when the shoe is released.
