Meghan and Harry have broken their silence over claims that they are looking into suing South Park after being portrayed in a recent episode.

The couple’s spokesperson denied that they are intending to take legal action, telling Newsweek: “This is baseless and boring.”

U.S. royal commentator Kristen Meinzer also explained to the publication why she doubts the royal figures will attempt to sue South Park. “I highly doubt Meghan and Harry are suing a satirical cartoon that famously ridicules everyone,” she said.

She continued, “if anything, they’ll know they’re in good company with other decent people who’ve been raked over the coals by the show.

“For example, South Park has repeatedly ridiculed Al Gore and his efforts to combat climate change. They made fun of Steve Irwin for being killed by a stingray just a few weeks after his death.

“They turned Rob Reiner into a punchline because of his weight. They’ve never been a bastion of good taste, and they’ve absolutely been offensive, but again, they’re also a cartoon, not a news outlet—and Harry and Meghan are unlikely to take a cartoon to court.”

The episode in question was titled ‘The Worldwide Privacy Tour’ and depicts the royals and pokes fun at their repeated requests for privacy. In the episode, the characters constantly talk about wanting to be private, but go ahead and snap up multiple media opportunities.

Earlier this week, former royal reporter Neil Sean said that the royal couple is currently contemplating legal action against the cartoon series.“Their legal team are casting an eye over the episode to see what is wrong, and what could be turned into something more sinister,” he told Fox News.
