The wait for season 3 of Succession is almost over as it’s been announced it will be coming this fall in the U.S. (or spring for Aussies).

HBO’s blockbuster satirical drama about the dysfunctional and chaotic Roy family, owners of a global media empire, who are all fighting for control of the company as their father’s health declines. Lots of bitchiness and fighting naturally ensued. It was the work of Jesse Armstrong, one of the co-creators of Peep Show, so he’s basically a screenwriting genius.

Succession has been sadly absent from our screens since 2019 with the third season delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic disrupting production. It was even more frustrating since season 2 ended on a cliffhanger so if you’re still yet to see those episodes, there’s spoilers ahead: last season ended with Kendall Roy refusing to accept responsibility for the criminal activity in the family company, instead throwing his father Logan under the bus.

As per Consequence of Sound, Casey Bloys, HBO’s chief content officer revealed that the new episodes will debut in a few months. An official description for season 3 was also provided: “Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall at the end of season 2, Logan Roy begins season 3 in a perilous position. Scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances, tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.”

They’re pulling out all the stops for the upcoming season too. Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies) and Adrien Brody (The Pianist) are joining the impressive cast that already includes Kieran Culkin and Brian Cox. Will it top season 2? Considering that season earned Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing, and Outstanding Writing, they’ve got their work cut out.

It’s been a big week for Prestige TV fans: the trailer for the highly-anticipated The Sopranos prequel, The Many Saints of Newark, debuted this week and it looks like a doozy.
