A few months back we made the case that Ray Meagher who plays Alf Stewart on Home and Away should really be on a postage stamp, such is his invaluable contribution to Australian culture.

Meagher has furthered his footprint by announcing he will be again playing outback mechanic Bob in the Queensland run of Priscilla – reprising a role he has previously played on the West End Stage in London, in Auckland, in the original 2007 Sydney production, and (no doubt) in the green room at Channel Seven between Home and Away scenes.

His run at Lyric Theatre, QPAC begins on September 26.

“The pink bus took me from Sydney to London to Auckland and this year to Brisbane”, Meagher said of the iconic role. “I never in my wildest dreams thought a bloke from the Queensland bush who can’t sing or dance would be allowed anywhere near a musical! THANK YOU PRISCILLA.”
