While we’re all losing our minds over the upcoming film, ‘House of Gucci’, the real life Gucci family are losing their minds too.
The film which is set to star Adam Driver and Lady Gaga as the lead stars has been sending the internet into overdrive, with their insanely lush Gucci kits, bringing that heyday of the fashion house into existence once again.
However, now as reported by Page Six, the film by Ridley Scott was apparently never approved by the Gucci family. Patrizia Gucci, one of Maurizio Gucci’s second cousins, told The Associated Press earlier this week that the family is “truly disappointed”. She said, “We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family.”
Patrizia continued, “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system… Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything. but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”
And also according to Page Six, Patrizia has stated that the last time she had actually spoken about the project was back in the early 2000s and has not since heard from the film’s team. She’s also reportedly reached out to Ridley Scott’s wife, Giannina Facio to chat about the film, but never heard back.
What’s more Patrizia does not seem to be too impressed with a portion of the film’s cast. And she’s not afraid to tell anyone either. While referencing her grandfather Aldo Gucci, she said, “My grandfather was a very handsome man, like all the Guccis, and very tall, blue eyes and very elegant. He is being played by Al Pacino, who is not very tall already, and this photo shows him as fat, short, with sideburns, really ugly. Shameful, because he doesn’t resemble him at all.”
Would the seal of approval from the real Gucci family have been the icing on the cake? We’ll just have to wait and see.
