A certain scene from Episode 9 of House of the Dragon could’ve just hinted at a possible connection between Aeomond and Helaena

SPOILERS for House of the Dragon Episode 9 ahead

Fans are beginning to speculate at a deeper relationship between siblings Aemond and Helaena Targaryen in HBO’s hit show, House of the Dragon. There is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene in the conclusion of last Sunday’s episode in which Helaenea briefly strokes Aemond’s arm when Rhaenys Targaryen bursts from the floor of the Dragonpit on her mount Meleys.

Some eagle-eyed fans who are quick to ship the two saw this interaction and began to theorize that there could be a romantic/incestuous connection between the two. Well, this could be less of a theory and more of a desperate attempt to look for any signs that would cement their shipping of two characters but regardless, the interaction did appear to have some sense of intimacy to it.

Whether the two will get together or not still remains to be seen (unless you’re a book fan) but Helaena is currently matched with King Aegon II Targaryen, so something drastic will have to happen for this ship to come to fruition.

“we never saw them speak to each other but this sexy little arm stroke is a good consolation prize

Episode 9 was full of moments for Helaena, as her prophecy about a “beast beneath the boards” seemingly came true in Episode 9.

In the midst of a mad scramble to find the potential King Aegon, Helaena repeated her grave warning, “There is a beast beneath the boards.”

After the Aegon is found, the young prince is crowned. But it wouldn’t be Game of Thrones without a mass gathering ending in something terrible. So, Princess Rhaenys explodes from beneath the floor, riding her dragon.

Helaena’s prophecy has come true. Rhaenys approaches the newly crowned King and makes her stance clear: I hold the power and could kill all of you at this very moment. She flies off, assumingly to tell Rhaenyra of the new green council. War has begun.

Neither Daemon nor Rhaenyra appear in this episode. Instead choosing to focus on the rapid ascension of Aegon but we can be sure that they will be plotting their next move.
