In Partnership with DERCOS by Vichy
CXLOE’s calendar is packed. With a European tour supporting British artist Griff just done and dusted, and her debut album Shiny New Thing coming out on May 17th, she has a lot to be excited about.
Amid the whirlwind of tour preparations, the Sydney-born singer visited home for a few days to mentally and physically get ready. On one of these days, Rolling Stone AU/NZ crashed a candid session with CXLOE and her hairstylist friend Lucy, as they tested styles for the stage and spilled the tea on all things hair care.
Here’s what we found out.
Reflecting On the Reality of Life in LA
CXLOE has spent the last two years settling into the Los Angeles music scene. For the most part, she’s embraced the city’s vibrant music culture and creative community. However, the move overseas didn’t come without its challenges, like the burnout of constant travel and pressure to always be working.
But there was another unexpected issue: it wasn’t long before CXLOE noticed the city’s harsh water was affecting her hair and scalp health. “Since moving to LA, the water quality has had a massive impact on my scalp and hair health,” she tells Lucy. “[It’s] super dry and irritated.”
A slight scalp issue wasn’t going to slow her down. Now, she’s found her rhythm, focusing on work life balance and holistic well-being.
Releasing Her Debut Album On Vinyl
After a string of hit singles, CXLOE is releasing her debut album this May. She talks about the project as more than a collection of songs – it’s an exploration of identity and a chance to experiment with her style.
“The album’s called Shiny New Thing,” she says. “It’s about my complex relationship with identity. As a female artist I definitely feel like I need to reinvent myself to stay fresh.” Through each song, she plays with different sounds and styles, while posing the near impossible question: “Am I doing this for me, or am I doing this for other people?”
And if the promise of fresh new music doesn’t get fans excited, a special release of the album will.
CXLOE revealed plans to release the album on vinyl, adding a tactile, nostalgic touch to her modern sound. Details of an album launch party are under wraps, but it’s sure to be a memorable event.
Getting Tour Ready with Dercos
As she prepares for her European tour, CXLOE is experimenting with her look too, seeking hairstyles that add to her confidence on stage. But before any cute up-dos, she needs a healthy scalp.
So Lucy recommends a bottle of Dercos by Vichy Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, a formula rich in dermatological actives like selenium DS and salicylic acid. “It can remove up to 100% of visible dandruff in the first wash*,” she explains. “Which is handy for somebody like [CXLOE] who is busy and needs something to work straight away.”
Turns out, the unique formula isn’t just recommended by Lucy, it’s dermatologist-recommended too.
Dercos by Vichy offers relief from CXLOE’s scalp woes, ensuring her hair stays healthy, regardless of location or water quality. It was a must-have when packing for the tour, scientifically proven to treat dandruff at the core and help maintain her scalp’s balance amidst the hectic schedule and changing environments.
Even better, the shampoo provides six weeks of anti-dandruff relapse protection**, so CXLOE – and everyone who tries it – is covered. Sounds good, right? Try it yourself.
For the first time ever in Australia, the Dercos by Vichy range is now available at Chemist Warehouse.
