Izzy Hoyland might just be the greatest character in Australian television history.

For three glorious years in the early ’00s, the Bassingthwaighte creation laid waste to Ramsay Street, stealing Dr. Karl Kennedy from long-suffering Susan, out evil-ing resident villain Paul Robinson, sleeping her way through the cul-de-sac, and doing whatever the fuck she wants inbetween.

Now, Neighbours are dedicating a movie length special to celebrate Nat Bass’ return, because this is a momentous occasion.

“Some stories are just too big, too dangerous and too much fun to tell in half an hour”, TEN’s Head of Drama, Rick Maier told TV Tonight.

“I feel very humbled that Izzy’s return will be an extended episode”, Nat Bass said in a press release.

“Izzy always knew how to make an entrance and this is no exception! It was fabulous to be filming back at the studios where my career started and straight away I felt completely at home – and to reunite with Alan and Jackie [Karl and Susan Kennedy] again was a dream.

“Viewers can be assured Izzy is back with a vengeance, creating chaos. If you loved to hate her before, you will love to hate her even more.”

Neighbours fans will also be keen to learn that four other favourites will be back on the cul-de-sac, no doubt playing cricket: Blair McDonough (Stu), Andrew Bibby (Lance!!), Anthony Engelman (Stonefish Rebecchi) and Marisa Warrington (Sindi, dated Toadie briefly from memory?).

Speaking of Toadie, the reason for this reunion is his belated 21st, which has a suitable ’90s throwback them. Anything to get Toadie back in one of his ’90s Hawaiian shirts.

The episode airs February 13 at 6:30pm at ELEVEN.
