Out-of-contract NRL player Jarryd Hayne is reportedly the subject of a police investigation after an unnamed woman has accused him of a sexual assault that took place on NRL Grand Final Night.

9News reported that the New South Wales Sex Crimes Squad were conducting an investigation into an incident that allegedly took place on 30 September. According to the report, the woman and Hayne had been communicating on social media. The allegedly met up in a house in the Hunter reason where the woman claims that she suffered injuries during a sexual encounter.

A statement from NSW police reads: “Police are investigating following reports a woman was sexually assaulted by a 30-year-old man in late September. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad. No further information is available at this time.”

9News reports that the NRL Integrity Unit conducted an interview with the woman in question. A spokesperson for Paramatta has stated, “As this is a police matter the club will be making no public comment in relation to these reports.”

Hayne is currently embroiled in a civil court sexual assault case in the United States. In which a woman has claimed she was sexually assaulted by Hayne – who was playing for the San Francisco 49ers. Hayne has denied those claims.
