Australia’s favourite altruist, Josh Pyke, is at it again. The Newtown singer-songwriter has returned the Josh Pyke Partnership, which awards one local act a $7,500 careerkick-starter.

The initiative with APRA AMCOS also offers the winning artist a mentorship from Josh Pyke himself and Gregg Donovan (Wonderlick Entertainment) and Stephen Wade (Select Music), who will help steer the winner’s career with a tailored business plan.

The Partnership is now in its fourth year; the inaugural winner was Gold Coast songwriter/producer GOVS (Josiah Birrell), followed by Sydney songwriter Gordi and Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Alex Lahey, who took out the grant last year.

“It made getting a foot in the door of the national touring circuit financially viable and allowed me to get advice from some of the Australian industry’s leading figures, including Josh himself,” said Lahey.

“To have been given support for my career in its early stages from one of Australia’s most successful musicians was an extremely encouraging gesture and I am so grateful to have forged a relationship with Josh that will see me seek his advice and expertise well into the future.”

To be eligible to enter, artists must be under 35, unsigned, and an Australian citizen.

Entries are now open and will close 5pm AEDT on March 31, with the winner announced on June5.
