Kanye West’s new album hasn’t even come out yet (it’s scheduled in just one month, folks!) and the amount of controversy that he’s generated in the last week has been intense to say the least. Now, Kanye has responded to a plea from his late mother’s plastic surgeon not to use his image as the artwork to the upcoming record.

On Sunday, we noted how Kanye had shared a Tweet in which he revealed that he was planning to use an image of Jan Adams, the US surgeon who performed Donda West’s final procedure, as the artwork to his upcoming album.

“This is my album cover,” explained West. “I want to forgive and stop hating.”

While we shared our doubt that this artwork would even get past the ideas phase, Adams himself recently shared an open letter to Kanye in which he pleaded with the rapper to refrain from using his image in any way with the upcoming record.

“I ask that you cease and desist using my photo or any image of me to promote your album or any of your work,” Adams wrote. “I don’t want to seem ungrateful…I just think if in fact this conversion to love is genuine on your part…then it’s inappropriate to drag the negativity of the past with it.”

“Nonetheless, I am impressed that you “want to forgive and stop hating,” he explained. “That’s impressive. More of us need to adopt that philosophy. Understand though that if you make the decision to love, you will no longer have that luxury of stupidity to which many of us cling.”

Adams then went on to explain the circumstances of Donda West’s death, pointing out that it may have been the aftercare provided by Kanye’s cousin that contributed to her passing.

“Perhaps you should put your cousin’s picture on your next album,” Adams opined. “Don’t put my picture out there and claim you are about love. Love deals with the truth.”

Kanye himself responded to the open letter on Twitter earlier today, where he thanks Adams for reaching out. “This is amazing. Thank you so much for this connection brother,” Kanye wrote. “I can’t wait to sit with you and start healing.”

So while the bad blood between Kanye West and Jan Adams seems to be dissipating to some degree, we now have to wonder what other ludicrous events are set to transpire between now and when Kanye’s next solo album comes out. At this stage, it looks like we’re in for a wild ride.
