Kate Ritchie didn’t hesitate when she was asked if she’d return to Home and Away if the show ended, confirming that she would “even to change the sheets in the caravan park”.

Ritchie was quizzed by her radio co-hosts Fitzy and Wippa on what she’d do if the show were to finish up and hold a reunion episode, much like Neighbours did last year.

After it was announced that Neighbours was going off the air, the show organised a finale episode that saw many famous cast members to return for Toady’s wedding. However, it was later announced that the soap would be revived after Amazon’s AVOD service, Freevee, which bought the rights from former Neighbours distributor, Fremantle.

Ritchie, who starred in Home and Away from 1988 to 2008 as Sally Fletcher, said she’d “absolutely” jump at the opportunity to help farewell the show that started her media career.

“I think it would always come down to the fact, regardless of how old I was. If Ray Meagher asked me to come back, to change the sheets in the caravan park. I’d be there hands down,” she told her co-hosts.

Ritchie added, “I would say, if Ray said would you come back I would say absolutely yes. And then my second question would be, who else is going to be back.”

The actress and radio presenter told her hosts that she’s still close with a number of former cast members that she met through the show.

“I’m still very close with Alex Paps, Deborah Lawrence. Who I think might be in the news soon again. Emily Simons,” she said.

Ritchie joined the Fitzy and Wippa show earlier this month, for the newly renamed Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie. She was formerly a presenter on Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel Drive show, but stepped down from the role in October last year.
