Keanu Reeves has given fans a taste of what they can expect in the latest addition to The Matrix franchise, and apparently the plot isn’t something we would have expected.

Keanu, who is set to reprise his role of Neo in the upcoming fourth instalment of the sci-fi flick, appeared on BBC One’s The One Show last night, where he revealed that he was currently filming The Matrix 4 in Berlin.

“We’re out here trying to make some magic,” the 55-year-old said of the first new instalment since 2003’s The Matrix Revolutions.

“We have a wonderful director, Lana Wachowski, and she has written a beautiful script that is a love story, it’s inspiring,” Keanu explained.

“It’s another version, a call to wake up and it has some great action. All will be revealed.”

Asked by guest presenter Ronan Keating whether the film would be a prequel to the original trilogy, he answered: “No, no. No going in the past.”

Carrie-Anne Moss will also be returning for the film as Trinity, while Lawrence Fishburne has “not been invited” to reprise his role of Morpheus for the sequel, adding: “I wish them well. I hope it’s great.”
