After James Corden said in an interview that his behaviour at Balthazar wasn’t ‘anything wrong,’ Keith McNally is understandably pissed.

James Corden just got himself unbanned from New York restaurant Balthazar, but that might not last long. After Corden claimed that he hadn’t done ‘anything wrong’ in an interview with the New York Times yesterday, McNally is, understandably, pissed.

ICYMI, earlier this week, restaurant owner Keith McNally called out James Corden for being abusive towards staff at his restaurant Balthazar in New York. McNally then promptly banned Corden from the establishment, but retracted said ban hours later when he revealed that Corden had reached out and apologised.

Days later, however, Corden addressed the issue in a New York Times interview and claimed that he hadn’t done ‘anything wrong’. The ‘anything’ in question was allegedly Corden taking issue with an egg-yolk omelette and returning it to the kitchen, but being ‘nasty’ to the server once he realised that the fresh order had the wrong side dish, and sending it back again.

“I haven’t done anything wrong, on any level,” Corden told NYT in his interview, calling the whole thing ‘insane’. “Happens every day. It’s happening in 55,000 restaurants as we speak. It’s always about eggs.”

As it turns out, McNally took issue.

“When James Corden said in yesterday’s NY Times that he hadn’t done ‘anything wrong, on any level,’ was he joking? Or was he denying being abusive to my servers? Whatever Corden meant, his implication was clear: he didn’t do it.” he said on Instagram.

“Although I didn’t witness the incident, lots of my restaurant’s floor staff did. They had nothing to gain by lying. Corden did.” he added, before throwing out his ask.

McNally claims that if Corden apologises to his staff, he will allow the host to dine at Balthazar for free for the next 10 years.

The restaurateur said: “If the supremely talented actor wants to retrieve the respect he had from all his fans (all 4 of them) before this incident, then he should at least admit he did wrong. If he goes one step further and apologizes to the 2 servers he insulted, I’ll let him eat for free at Balthazar for the next 10 years.”

Let’s see if Corden lives up to his eggs-pectations.
