Okay so the mullet has officially been banned in North Korea.

Yes, Kim Jong-Un has banned the rowdy haircut. And it’s not just because he thinks it’s not a good look, he’s worried about something much bigger.

According to The Expressthere are reports that Kim Jong is concerned about the growing foreign influence on the country and the ban is actually a push to do more in the way of fighting the “invasion of a capitalistic lifestyle” from what they refer to as the “decadent” West.

The reports have been sourced from a North Korean state-run newspaper known as The Rodong Sinmun which is run by Kim Jong’s political party. They wrote, “History teaches us a crucial lesson that a country can become vulnerable and eventually collapse like a damp wall regardless of its economic and defence power if we do not hold on to our own lifestyle.”

Not only have they banned the rowdy haircut, they’ve also banned skinny jeans and nose piercing, which I’m assuming they perceive as symbols of Western invasion.

Unlike skinny jeans, the mullet will always be cool. If rocked correctly, that is. While there may have been a lot of people to have butchered the cut, there have been many who have done the iconic hairstyle plenty of justice.

Skinny jeans though, will they always have a place in society (when it comes to the rest of the world?) The fashion world has been calling the demise of skinny jeans for the past five years, however the prediction was never truly fulfilled. I guess it has now though in North Korea…
