Kim Kardashian is in trouble with lawsuits again, this time from a small business accusing the reality TV superstar of trademark infringement.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Kim K is being sued for trademark infringement over her new brands, “SKKN” and “SKKN BY KIM”. The company behind the lawsuit is Brooklyn-based Beauty Concepts, which states it owns the rights to “SKKN+” and claims Kim’s use of “SKKN” is confusing customers.

The lawsuit says that Beauty Concepts is a Black and woman-owned business that fought its way through the pandemic, only to come up against Kim’s similar branding this year.

The company allegedly contacted Kim’s representatives to explain that they held the trademark rights for “SKKN+” but were ultimately ignored, with Kim moving forward with the launch of her own line anyway.

However, according to Kim’s attorney Michael Rhodes, his client is in the clear. “This lawsuit is not what it seems,” he informed TMZ. “”SKKN BY KIM” is a new brand that follows in the footsteps of Ms. Kardashian’s successful “KKW” line of products.

Building on independent research and development, her company filed a trademark application for “SKKN BY KIM” to protect the new branded products. This prompted the current shakedown effort.”

Rhodes claimed the the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) rejected Beauty Concepts’ own “SKKN+” mark due to “skkn” meaning “skin”. According to him, “running a small business in Brooklyn does not give it the right to shut down a global skincare line.”
