Kim Kardashian has broken down in tears talking about Kanye West during a new podcast interview.

Appearing on the Angie Martinez IRL Podcast, Kardashian spoke openly about the difficulties of co-parenting with Ye, and said she has gone to great lengths to shield their four kids from all of the drama.

“I definitely protected [Ye], and I still will in the eyes of my kids, for my kids,” she said. “So in my home, my kids don’t know anything that goes on on the outside world. I know I’m holding on by a thread, I’m so close to that not happening, but while it’s still that way I will protect that to the end of the earth as long as I can.”

The Skims founder and reality TV star admitted it was “really fucking hard” to co-parent with Ye as his behaviour became increasingly erratic and controversial over the past year. “You’re not co-parenting with just anyone,” Martinez pointed out.

Kardashian and West’s divorce was finalised last month, almost two years after Kardashian filed the paperwork.

All Kardashian wants for her kids, though, is good memories like she has of her late father, Robert. “I had the best dad,” she said, tearing up. “I had the best memories and the best experience, and that’s all I want for my kids.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Kardashian expressed some concerns that potential boyfriends will be “scared” of her ex-husband, who publicly berated recent ex Pete Davidson to the point he allegedly ended up in trauma therapy.

“There’s a part of me that is like, ‘Oh my God, is everyone gonna be scared because I don’t have the easiest ex?’” she said. “I don’t think that’s fair for me to ever put someone in a situation or bring a new person in who could be super innocent. Then there’s a side of me that’s like, ‘Why would I ever have to live that way?’”

Kardashian admitted she had been tested “so much” this year but she has been able to restrain herself from biting back at people.

“There has been the wildest shit that I even have in conversations and DMs, like completely wild,” she said. “If someone will speak out and I’ll have the actual receipts, and for me to sit on them has shown… I think this year I’ve learned restraint.”

Kardashian also addressed her response to the Balenciaga backlash, admitting she was slow to address the controversy, but had been kept in the dark about it as well.

Getting emotional, Kardashian pointed out how frustrating it is to always try and do the right thing whilst always facing criticism. Referring to cancel culture in today’s world, Kardashian said we obviously need to call out things that are wrong, but noted people still “make mistakes”.
