Kyle and Jackie have addressed the dramatic moment that they were dumped during their show last week.
On Friday, Kyle and Jackie had Alan Jones as a guest on the Kyle and Jackie-O show. Midway through their chat about eating out, cars and homes, the show suddenly stopped and switched to approximately nine minutes of ads. A prerecorded alert then played that informed listeners the audio had been “dumped”.
“This means someone said something inappropriate and is currently getting in trouble,” the message announced.
After the lengthy break, Kyle and Jackie-O returned, but Alan was gone. “We were going into weird territory – comparing cars and homes – then the show got dumped,” Kyle told listeners.
Dumping takes place when a radio show isn’t able to censor certain parts of a conversation in the 45 second delay between the time it’s recorded and broadcasted.
“If it’s a beep, it’s fine, but if it’s a dump, it’s a different story altogether,” Jackie-O said.
Kyle added: “It wasn’t a big deal, as far as I’m concerned, but -” before being dumped again.
“Well, we made it back. Who would have thought?” Kyle said.
“We left the show on Friday in a hissy fit. What happened was, there was some confusion between management and mixed signals, wishy-washy back-end bulls**t.”
Jackie added that the part of the interview that was taken off air “wasn’t even that big a deal in the first place”.
The Kyle and Jackie O Show began on new station KIIS 106.5 in January 2014 and has consistently been the most popular breakfast show.
