Earlier this month, Larry David was uninvited from from Barack Obama’s 60th birthday celebration. It was a classic Curb Your Enthusiasm stitch-up.

A bunch of other A-listers including David Letterman had also been uninvited.

The Seinfeld creator was originally a part of a 475 person guest list of over for the former US president’s milestone birthday celebration.

However, due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the US, Obama has been forced to scale back the event and cut famous invitees including Larry David and David Letterman.

Obama spokesperson Hanna Hankins said the decision was made because of “the new spread of the Delta variant over the past week.”

Now that the birthday celebrations have came and gone, David spoke on being uninvited from the event in an interview with The New York Times.

David spoke on how he received a missed call from Obama’s assistant and admitted that the first assumption he jumped to was that he was being asked to deliver a last minute stand-up routine.

“I was pretty glum when I finally called back his assistant,” David said.”

Thankfully for David, this was far from the case.

“When he told me I was eighty-sixed from the party, I was so relieved, I screamed, ‘Thank you! Thank you!’ He must have thought I was insane. Then I hung up the phone, poured myself a drink and finished my crossword puzzle.”
