Laura Byrne has slammed Kyle Sandilands in leaked texts over “misogynistic” comments that he made about Abbie Chatfield during a recent interview with Yung Gravy.

Kyle Sandilands was hosting the Kyle and Jackie O show alongside Brittany Hockley, who has been standing in for Jackie O while she is off sick. In the interview, Yung Gravy mentioned that he had a date with Abbie Chatfield lined up.

Sandilands responded by mocking Chatfield and implying that she goes on a lot of dates. “Oh Jesus. Do you? So you and everyone else,” he commented, adding: “line up, my friend, line up”.

Hockley added, “I have no doubt.”

In the same interview, Sandilands asked Yung Gravy, real name Matthew Huri, if Chatfield sent him nudes, and Brittany asked the rapper if they’d “sexted”.

Since the interview went to air, Chatfield slammed the radio shots for “slut shaming” her, and a number of high profile Australians have waded into the feud and taken sides. Even Yung Gravy told us that he “didn’t agree” with the way the hosts spoke about Chatfield. Hockley, who like Chatfield, starred on The Bachelor, was criticised for attempting to tear another female down.

Shortly after the “slut shaming” saga broke loose, Chatfield announced that she would be hosting the Australian season of F-Boy Island. Hockley’s podcast partner Laura Byrne took to Instagram to call Chatfield out for hosting a show “that encourages men to lie to women and manipulate their emotions” and called it “absolute hypocrisy” in regards to her criticising Hockley and Sandilands over their comments.

Now, So Dramatic! has published texts between Byrne and a podcast listener that show the former Bachelor winner criticising Kyle and saying the entire segment was “gross”.

“I don’t agree with what happened on the KJ show – I think the segment was gross. However, I know that Britt was made to feel incredibly uncomfortable by Kyle’s comments,” Byrne told the listener in one of the messages.

When the listener questioned why she berated Chatfield for aligning with F Boy Island, but won’t condemn Hockley for working with shock jock Sandilands, she said: “The whole thing is a shit show and has been utterly exhausting. But, I strongly disagree with targeting this female and holding her to a higher standard than the other 2 men in that room.

“The one who said the misogynistic things and the man who didn’t speak up either.”

Byrne also defended her co-host, saying that Hockley has been critisised enough, and said that Yung Gravy could have stood up to Kyle’s “misogynist” comments, too.

“On social media, Britt has copped the full force for her part in this.”

“The other thing that happened in that interview is that when Kyle offered Britt and Abbie up for a date (something Britt did not want) Yung Gravy chose Britt and laughed also. He also played along.

“Abbie’s stories have said that Yung Gravy was all class and he was made to feel uncomfortable by the line of questioning – which I assume is why he acted and responded the way he did on live radio.

“Britt was uncomfortable but she was not afforded the same grace.”
