Dun-dun, the iconic series Law and Order: SVU has been renewed with a 22nd, 23rd, and 24th season, and we’re ready for detective Olivia Benson to do her thing.

Even though it’s already broken records with being the longest-running live-action series still on television, Law and Order: SVU is ready to keep their title with announcing it’s renewal for a 24th season.

Known for breaking boundaries, and keeping their stories relevant, the series is already in the midst of its 21st season. From following the most heinous of sex crimes and assault, the series aims to not only keep viewers entranced, but to open the eyes to the public about what goes on behind the scenes in investigation.

With Mariska Hargitay at the helm as Captian Olivia Benson – who is also the longest-running character in a primetime live-action series – her role not only helps to drive the entire team of cast, but also plays an important part in her social agenda.

Alongside playing a crucial role in Law and Order: SVU, she also runs her charity Joyful Heart Foundation, which envisions a future without sexual assault, domestic violence, and crimes against children.

She, as well as her fellow cast, also bring to light the staggering amount of untested rape kits that are piled up in evidence warehouses around the U.S through her hashtag #IAmEvidence.

With this series playing such a crucial role in not only entertainment, but in providing hope and resources for victims of sexual-based crimes, it being renewed for a further three seasons is great news to fans.
