The Liam Neeson movie Blacklight has been shooting in Melbourne but filming is heading to Canberra for a scene and you could be in it.

The Irish actor has taken his “very particular set of skills” to Melbourne over the past few months to film his latest movie Blacklight. For four days starting from next Thursday, January 14th, though, shooting will transfer to the capital for a “crucial car sequence”, according to ABC.

Canberra (which will be turned into Washington D.C. on camera) will be quite disrupted for the event with several streets being shut off for filming. If any diehard fans of the Taken icon were thinking of heading to the city to catch a glimpse of him however, we’ve got some bad news. Neeson himself won’t actually be present, with his stunt double standing in for him as he’s already back in the U.S..

“His stunt double, also from the United States, will have to go back to America soon [which is] why filming has to happen now,” Screen Canberra Chief Executive Monica Penders confirmed. “This is the last scene that they’re doing.”

The entire film was actually supposed to be shot in Canberra, but the coronavirus pandemic stopped that from happening. Four days should be enough: filming is still expected to bring in more than $1 million in revenue and create jobs for locals. If you fancy seeing yourself in a Liam Neeson blockbuster, no matter how small a role, you can register to be an extra here.

Blacklight sounds like a Liam Neeson project alright. The thriller movie is about a troubled off-the-books fixer for the FBI tasked with pulling undercover agents out of dangerous situations who soon finds himself embroiled in a conspiracy that goes right to the top. Expect a lot of growling and tension, in other words.
