In one of the most absurd news stories we’ve seen in a while, a Liberal MP has taken aim at Dan Andrews by tweeting a picture of donuts that look like, well, a dick.
Liberal Member for Kew Tim Smith posted the decidedly phallic image on Twitter this morning, intending to draw attention to the number of people who have died from COVID-19 in Victoria.
However, while he had arranged the four cinnamon donuts to signify the number 800, the shape they ended up taking was a lot more… graphic.
It appears Smith’s use of the sweet treat was supposed to be a reference to Dan Andrews’ own donut-related tweet.
In celebration of Victoria recording its first instance of zero new COVID-19 cases since June, Andrews tweeted a picture of himself about to tuck into a donut with the caption, “today’s a good day.”
In response, Smith posted the already infamous #DonutDick picture, saying that 800 is “the number Daniel Andrews should be reflecting on.”
“Rather than gloating, he should take responsibility for 800 Victorians who died in the second wave caused by his hotel quarantine fiasco,” he said.
“The last four months has been a tragedy for so many families.”
Unsurprisingly, Smith is less than thrilled by the social media storm he inadvertently caused, telling news.com.au that the suggestion the donuts looked like a penis was “sick.”
“800 Victorians have died, how can anyone even suggest this? It’s sick,” he said.
He continued: “This is a callous and deranged response to me for pointing out that 800 people died because of Daniel Andrews’ failures.”
“If others see anything else but the figure 800 that is a reflection on them, not me. Labor has a callous disregard for the deaths of 800 Victorians.”
