Like a lot of facets of the beauty world right now, the traditional idea of who make up and skincare is marketed towards is being redefined – finally. And that’s exactly where Lil Yachty’s own line of nail polish is situating itself.

According to GQ AustraliaLil Yachty said in a press release, “If you find painting your nails is a way to show off your creative side or it’s an aesthetic that fits you, you shouldn’t be judged for it. Outside opinion shouldn’t have an effect on your aesthetic and whatever you decide to do and this line is a reflection of that.”

If that’s not an empowering construction of words, I don’t know what is.

So with that in mind, now let’s get to the brand. The line of nail polish  is called Crete and since being launched on Instagram with its own account, currently boasts an Instagram account of 12 thousand followers, in a just a couple of days.

Right now the account is pretty cryptic, which you could only imagine does wonders for the brand’s building hype. In its second post, they’ve teased their first collection, known as Negatives 001, a neutrals collection featuring black, light grey and white shades of polish.

Upon first glance of seeing the Crete packaging, you probably wouldn’t assume that it was technically a bottle of nail polish. Looking kind of like a marker of some sort, the design is pretty minimal meets industrialist and we’re here for this new take on what a nail polish bottle can actually look like.

Honestly, anyone could perceive this as a ploy by Lil Yachty to capitalise on a pretty untapped facet of beauty (being nail polish). But, if he’s out here redefining outdated gender stereotypes which have dictated who should or shouldn’t be wearing things, or who can or can’t wear things, then he better capitalise the shit out of it!
